Description: Norwegian emigration to the United States began in earnest in 1825, when the sloop "Restauration" set sail from Stavanger bound for New York. To mark the centennial, the fairgrounds between Minneapolis and St. Paul played host to a wide variety of cultural events in June of 1925. The festivities included historical exhibitions, parades, dance recitals, speeches, and theatrical vignettes, everything with a Norwegian theme. The footage shows a number of notable guests, both from Norway and the US, including President Calvin Coolidge.
